The Ultimate Fighting Championship closes the year with the ultimate line-up of great and amazing fights. Three of these fights features six of the most talented and popular UFC fighters in their divisions.

UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 will be on December 27, 2008 at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada. It will also be broadcast live on Pay-per-View.

Christmas is in the Air

In a tropical country like the Philippines, most of the time the air is humid and the climate is hot except during rainy season. Since I go to work 5 times in a week I am already used to waking up very early in the morning. At 7 am, the usual time I leave the house, the sun is already scorching hot, and you’ll be sweating profusely that early in the morning. But since November entered I noticed some changes, just this morning on my way to work, while waiting for my ride to work I felt a sudden gust of unusual cool breeze of air. As it touched my skin it made me shivered, made me smile, felt happy, a certain spark of joy bubbled up. Funny coz I can’t explain where the happiness came from.

Everywhere you go, the malls, offices, homes, even the streets are filled with decors, Christmas carols is in the air. In our house, not a single sign of Christmas can be seen or felt. We haven’t put up decorations since I can’t remember when. We’ve been too busy I guess, but it doesn’t mean we don’t celebrate that very important and meaningful event.

I think this year’s Christmas would be different and more meaningful for me. I discovered a lot of things about myself; I’ve learned so much, I’ve changed for the better I hope. That is so far the best gift I can offer to my family and myself this year. Although my Mom wants a baby from either one of us, hahahaha, I don’t think she will get her wish this year, not from me for sure.

My Christmas Wish Upon A Star

I cannot remember when was the last time me and my siblings spent Christmas with my mom. Since she left for the US in 1999 she hasn't come home for Christmas, although she has visited us a couple of times. Me and my sister would have this dilemma every year of where and how to celebrate Christmas again. We would often talk about taking a trip and spend Christmas elsewhere but it never materialised. Now that Christmas is just around the corner I have only one wish, the same wish I had last year and the previous years and that is to have my mom here with us on Christmas. Just by doing this post it's making me cry already, coz I can't remember anymore the last Christmas Mommy had with us. The things we did or the food we prepared or the gifts we received.

More than anything else spending time with family is the most important thing for me. I am not the richest person on earth but I would not exchange the chance of being with my Mom on occasions like this with any material thing. But if it doesn't happened again this year I would still wait..There's still next year..

What Drives Your Life?

“I observed that the basic motive for success is the driving force of envy and jealousy”…Ecclesiastes 4:4

There are several things that may drive our lives. Factors that direct, guide and control the way we live each day. Not unless we recognize what these factors are we will continue to allow it to dictate our lives. So start asking yourselves, what is the driving force in my life?

It may be:

1. Driven by Guilt
Are you living your life running away from regrets and hiding from shame? Then guilt is the driving force in your life. Guilt-driven people allow their past shortcomings to manipulate the way they live their lives at present. Because of their guilt feeling they would unconsciously punish themselves up to the extent of sabotaging their own success. It’s not wrong to feel guilty, but to live by this guilt and permitting it to disconnect you from God and from what matters most in your life is not right at all. Instead do things that will make you a better person because as long as you are alive your chance of becoming someone better than you were before is yours for the taking.

2. Driven by resentment and anger
For the longest time my life was driven by resentment and anger, only I didn’t know it. I would do things thinking that in some way I could get back at those people who hurt me in the past. At times it makes me feel good but in the long ran I realized that the person I am hurting the most is myself and my family. It was only when I finally forgiven myself, learned to let go and forget that I felt genuinely good inside. No more anger, no more hurt, no more pain. Revenge they say is sweet, but forgiving is much sweeter.

3. Driven by fear
We all have fears, its human nature to be scared. Some people take these fears at a certain level that it hinders them from growing and improving. This is maybe due to some traumatic experiences, unrealistic expectations or genetic dispositions. Fear-driven people would often play it safe and are scared to take risks and venture out. They imprison themselves in their own fear which would eventually result to them not fulfilling their purpose in this world.

4. Driven by materialism
Having more makes me feel more secure, more important and happier. Maybe true for a short period of time but not forever. Though many people still can’t see that happiness provided by material possessions is temporary and superficial still many are driven by materialism. Because they believe having all the wealth makes them more significant in the society. Money and other material possessions can disappear at the blink of an eye but real happiness and significance borne of living life according to God’s plan will never diminish even if we are no longer in this world.

5. Driven by need of approval
Peer pressure, a lot of teenagers today is experiencing peer pressure. Doing things even if they are wrong just to be in or accepted in a group is very rampant today. Peers approval is not the only problem sometimes our own parents or even spouse can even trigger this kind of feeling. They make you feel less of yourself especially when you don’t exceed their expectations. We may not know all the keys to success but one key to failure is trying to please everyone.

I have been playing poker in my sister's PSP lately, it what keeps me up late at night sometimes. So when I heard about the result of the recently concluded World Series of Poker main event, I was really amazed. The winner, Peter Eastgate, 22 years old, a professional poker player from Odense, Denmark is now $9 million dollars richer after winning the World Series of Poker main event. Eastgate is now the youngest poker player to win the said tournament. Beating the then youngest player who won the tournament at 24 years old in 1989, Phil Hellmuth. Eastgate defeated Russian poker player Ivan Demidov. He qualified for the main event via Labrokes poker website.

So Sleepy...

Been feeling very drowsy this past few days.. I lack sleep since Sunday, I think its because of drinking too much coffee. I'm having a hard time falling asleep..hmmm...I can't even come up a with a sensible post, I have been thinking what to write today. I wanted to post something about sports because I noticed I haven't done that for sometime now. But I can't seem to write anything than this...It's like my brain is not functioning well..Maybe its because of my lack of sleep..come to think of it there is actually someone who's keeping me up till wee hour of the morning. It's all your fault...but I don't mind, I enjoy our conversations even if its nonsense sometimes...Hopefully I will be able to get the sleep I deserve tonight..
